Blessed

Staring out into the horizon, the beauty never cease to amaze me. Listening to the sound of waves, the calming sea breeze that soothes the nerves. One cannot be more fortunate and blessed to be able to enjoy this piece of serenity.

YM Brags: Betty's Midwest Kitchen @ Aman Suria

I've read a couple of blogs that have given really good reviews for Betty's Midwest Kitchen. And I've also passed by the place numerous times because it's just nearby my house. Haven't had the chance to try until recently..(most of the time when I drove pass the restaurant it's always packed with people standing outside waiting for seats..)

After the many times seeing the crowd and reviews that the food is awesome and all, I've decided to go give it a try myself! Their menu is rather extensive. Deciding on what to eat was pretty easy though hahaha unanimous votes for what we've ordered :P

"Dog Food" RM9.00
it does really look like dog food huh? :P
Soft Ribs RM29.50
Pork Chop with Country Gravy RM23.00

So..my verdict of the meal? It was just so-so. Nothing to shout about really...The soft ribs were pretty good..soft..really soft you can peel the meat off the bone literally very easily and the rib sauce (as they call it) compliments the ribs very nicely...but...without the sauce, the ribs actually tasted and smells like satay >.<

As for the pork chop with country gravy, it was just alright..the pork was slightly tough..the mashed potato was very watery..and the 'country gravy' is of the same as the one in "Dog Food".  Got to give credit to the gravy though cuz it is nice...but other than that...I'd say this restaurant is OVERRATED!!

I think it's going to be some time before my next visit to try their other food stuffs..lolz~ oh well...hahaha

til then, toodles~

YM Brags: Seong Kee DimSum & Sec17 Chicken Rice (with some additional rants :P)

It's been a long while since I last had dimsum, hence I suggested to kibs that we go for dimsum today [today is Sunday :) yesterday was Saturday and the day before yesterday was FRIDAY - hahaha just poking at Rebecca Black's song Friday :P] . When we were in Johor last week, one of his aunt staying in Cheras mentioned that there are a number of dimsum shops available at Taman Connaught, Cheras and we haven't tried any before, so, this calls for a chance to explore to Cheras! *claps* It so happens that one of our friend is still staying in the area, we decided to invite her along! :)

She told us this is THE famous one along that road of shop houses. It's called the Kedai Kopi dan Makan Seong Kee.

Egg Tarts (pretty good!)

              Deep Fried Prawn Rolls with
              Salted Egg

Braised Pai Kuat
(i think it's called pork ribs?)

                    Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun

Har Kow & Siew Mai
(the must have for every dimsum meal)

                                    Fishball on Egg

Lotus paste wrapped in Pandan Glutinous Balls

Here it is!
Kedai Kopi dan Makan Seong Kee

Check out the super cute Piggy Red Bean pao! No, this is not from the eatery above. Had these at Canton-I on Friday when I was out for lunch with me colleagues :P Just "tumpang" to upload here nie :Pbwahahahahahahaha

And I had this Flower Tea (with Jasmine, Gold Amaranth and I dunno what else XD)
at Canton-I
Ok, back to the supposed topic..we went to Midvalley after breakfast for a somewhat "window shopping" in which kibs ended up buying 2 shirts! LoL~ They had the Blood Donation drive in Midvalley and I thought I was heavy enough to donate so I signed up *yays* (it's been ages since I last donated my blood ><) I REALLY AM AT THE IDEAL WEIGHT!! I weighed myself so many times previously and I AM at the ideal weight...BUT...when i weighed myself at their counter, I was underweight!! wth?!! Best part was when I was filling up the form, one lady (probably a doctor or a nurse or someone who sees human often enough to know the estimate of a person's weight!) at the booth asked me how much I weigh..I told her my weight..and then she replied, "Nanti boleh pergi check berat kamu kat counter2, I rasa you underweight la." @.@ True to her words...I was..>.< HOW CAN THIS BE??!!! I rasa their scale is inaccurate!!! Ada jilat sifar!! >< As I was (note i use the word was cuz i still think their scale is inaccurate), I was rejected...huhuhu T_T So much for wanting to donate blood...Oh well...

We continued lingering for a bit and then moved on for our lunch (drank a bit too much tea and you'll get hungry fast :P) We went to our favorite "hang-out" place (or more like kibs' favorite)  at Section 17, PJ for lunch. The only thing we would order at this kopitiam is the Chicken Rice. To me..this is the best chicken rice in town! I'm serious!! Take a look and tell me it's not making you salivate with the perfectly roasted brown crispy chicken skin??!!

They have a special thick sauce in comparison to the other chicken rice stalls that uses normal soya sauce of sorts. Their Siew Yok (roasted pork) is also very nice! Unfortunately, we went a bit too late and they've ran out of it. Will take a picture to share the next time I get my hands on them ;o) They have Char Siew as well but I'm not a big fan of their char siew.  It's definitely not as nice as the GENG char siew at Meng Kee.

hurmm...think it's about time I stop blabbering. hehehehe :P

YM Brags: Meng Kee Char Siew @ Jalan Pekedai

Hello~ :) Time seriously flies isn't it? We're now 1/3 through the year already...HAPPY APRIL~!! :)

Anyways, I got to know this eatery from my cousin. haha! It's the first right turn along Jalan Juruterbang (my cousin was so excited when he mentioned this road cuz it's his road! :P He's a pilot) He told me one day, "One of the weekend I bring you go eat the geng eh char siew rice!" And I went.."ok :)" lolz~ I really enjoy having family around in KL with me..like when my brother was still here..we'd go for dinner together every Sunday! I miss having him around.. =(

Alrighteyz..enough of my ranting...back to topic! So, as it turns out..the char siew really is GENG! The meat is coated with a thick layer of caramel and it's roasted to perfection with the right amount of fats! *slurps*

Mouthwatering Char Siew
Roasted Chicken
(their chicken is just alright. As my cousin said..this is just the side dish LOL)
Restoran Meng Kee Char Siew
As delicious as it may be, it's not one place I'd patronize often cuz it's rather pricey! (in my opinion) I mean, a dish of chicken+char siew for 3 with 4 rice (my cousin had an extra rice) and 3 drinks came up to almost RM45!! That's like nearly RM15 per person!! >.< So..it's good only to visit once in a while :) They have breakfast too! Char Siew Wan Tan mee...will try that some other time ;o)

Till then! *SMILE stupidly* :D
